Top 5 Picks "Guiltless Office Snacks"

(late posting)  It's an hour before lunch and my tummy's grumbling.  I don't want to ruin lunch and upset my "recently resumed" diet so I munch on some low-calorie snacks to keep my tummy quiet.  J

Here are my top guiltless office nibbles that I keep in my stash

1.      Nuts. Nuts. Nuts. 
HAPPY:  All time fav of our team :-)

2.      Raisins. 
Great for digestion + some sugar for my sweet tooth



3.      Oats/ cereal drink.
I go for Nutri-go's chocolate cereal drink (who says I can't have chocos?)


4.      Yogurt. 
They say its acquired taste, but I’d like to think yogurts are actually substitutes for ice creams. 
All time fav, Nestle fruit yogurt.

5.      Coffee. 
Depends on the weather, I either have it hot/ iced cold.

Craving for Sukiyaki

Sukiyaki is a traditional Japanese stew consists of thinly sliced beef, veggies, noodles and raw egg.   Pag-umuulan, sarap ng sabaw diba?! :-)

Puffy eyes go away!

Cried my heart out today parang nakikisabay sa ulan. 

Worst, I have a string of meetings to attend to pala.  Ack!  Covering it up with makeup didn't really do much good din.  But to my surprise, nobody bothered to ask about my puffy eyes.  I guess they're all used to my "eye irritation - contact lens excuse”! lol :-)

Anyway, here are some puffy eyes remedies I got from the internet:

1.      Stop crying (lol! This is funny.)
2.      Wash your face w/ cold water
3.    Cool off your eyes with chilled tea bags/ sliced cucumbers/ cotton balls or even silver spoons for around 20mins (no time nga eh..)
4.      Hydrate, drink water to help flush out what’s in your eyes (mmm, really?)
5.      Sleep (I wish!)

In short, my eyes are still a bit swollen but what carried me through the day is this

Hair dilemma: Straight or Curls?

Solution (for ladies who want flexibility to change their minds…  at least for their hair) :

Buy a hair iron!  This is one of the best investments I made for my hair vanity. 
Purchased this ceramic hair iron at Watsons for P1,500 (est)

Partnered w/ Vitress for extra shine and hair protection. 
(more appropriate though is Heat Protect-with Thermo-Shield Complex :-p)

Opted for curls today.  Photo taken >10 hrs after i set my hair! :-)

Ohh! Vanity. :-)

ketchup pls!

(i've been meaning to write about this - if i had a blog a month ago!)

My hubby and i went gaga when we learned that mcdo switched to heinz ketchup from, i think, delmonte ketchup.  (as in, super happy infront of the cashier!) Don't get me wrong, nothing bad with the old one especially we've been used to it for sooo long. 

Verdict:  Took me about 1 helping of mcdo fries to get used with the combination (mcdo fries+heinz), while instant adjustment naman with the burger!

Absolutely love it! :-)

Yadiyani's Pastillas de Leche

Don't be fooled with the size.  Ohh! So creamylicious! 
I almost finished the whole box in one sitting.  >_<

50pcs of yummy pastillas per box @P100 only.

No body can say no to pastillas, right? Pastillas de leche is one of the most popular native sweets we have in the Philippines.  It's a mixture of milk and sugar normally seen in flattened mini-rectangles or mini-logs.  Yadiyani's Pastillas de Leche is so creamy, I can actually feel it melt in my mouth.  :-) 

I wonder why the other pastillas are hard and dry?

Ohh! It’s back to school!

I had this really cool professor in high school who said, "no need to memorize class!  You can always go back to your books, just understand the concepts."  Well, something like that.  Fantastic,  right?!  It worked well for me until I realized, I CAN’T always go back to my books!
What a relief to have these new technologies with us today. From internet to ipads, students are equipped to do better (ehem!) in their studies.  And if they need some answer, they can simply just Google it!  

Some points before you Google away:
  1. Though it’s much more important to understand the concepts, there’s really no escape in memorizing.  (trust me, I've been there!)
  2. There's still virtue in reading those big text books (or ebooks). J
  3. Not all internet data is good information.  Know how to filter!
  4. The web is also filled with clutters and clouded information from misinformed people.  Always cross reference.
  5. No easy path for learning, cut and paste simply won't work (especially in the long run).  
  6. Let’s face it; gadgets like laptops and mobile internet sticks are now becoming a necessity.  If you can, buy (and learn how to use them!).  But don’t forget, your school library also have these so at least use your lib. pass once!
  7. Lastly, your professor ALSO knows how to use Google.  So remember to put those “sources.”

uncracking the TOPS mystery

My friend and I did a little experiment last week with Flat Tops and Curly Tops.  Interesting diba?  Haven't you ever wondered the difference between the two???  (hehehe... the truth is, I just wanted to buy chocolates in the grocery in spite of my colds.  I used the experiment to get loads of sweet stuffs! lol!)

Anyway, here are some of our findings :

1.   made by Ricoa:  Both are manufactured by Ricoa, a local chocolate manufacturer in the Philippines, been in ops since I can remember.   Another fav product is their ricoa cocoa powder, we use that for baking and also for my ina’s special champorado...mmm parang bagay for this rainy weather)



2.   price & packaging:  Price and packaging sizes are similar as we scanned through the grocery.  Packaging design almost looks identical.  Familiarity with the products' colors (which I assume, people my age are well aware of since we all grew up with these chocos) help you distinguish which is which. 


3.   brands:  Named as such because of their tops! (i assume)  Flat Tops have flat top surface, while Curly Tops (from the box) have curly ridges because of its "cupcake-like" cover.  Those we bought look very similar though because of the packaging. (sana they retained the curls pa din)


4.   look, taste, texture:  aside from the flat and curly tops, the two differ slightly in their colors.  Curly Tops have darker/ richer brown color than Flat tops.  Based on their packaging, both are milk chocolates.  The two taste the same but varies in their texture.  Flat Tops is a bit dry & crumbly, while Curly Tops has rich & smooth consistency.


So what’s our verdict?  2 hands for Curly Tops for its distinct smooth texture and rich chocolate taste! J(but Hubby’s sticking with Flat Tops daw… )
