SHARE A GK DISCO: "Disco"

I've heard a lot about Gawad Kalinga for years now but never had a chance to participate in one until recently. This year, our GK project is nearing to completion. Almost 200 families of displaced calamity victims will have homes. We witnessed the change in their faces from despair to hope.   Ohh, I have no words to describe it.

This coming October marks the 10th year of Gawad Kalinga.  So many lives have been touched and changed of this initiative that started with a burden to improve the well-being of poor communities.  This year, GK will celebrate its anniversary by sharing with the rest of the world the stories that have helped define the work of the foundation. From the words of Jose Luis Oquinena, Executive Director of Gawad Kalinga, "for us who are already involved, these stories serve as inspiration to stay the course, but for the poor, these fulfill a promise made when we first started: Walang iwanan!"

One such story of this promise concretized is that of Mang Disco's, who found hope when he finally had a home address after many years of living in a cemetery.

HOW YOU CAN HELP NOW:

1. Share the video post from Gawad Kalinga Official Page (Facebook) and GawadKalingaHQ (Twitter) on your corporate and personal social media accounts

2. Send email and SMS blasts to your corporate and personal networks, inviting them to view and share as well

3. Use hashtag #discohopes when you share/repost in your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and

4. Should somebody inquire about helping GK, please direct them to www.gk1world.com.

We believe that these stories have the power to inspire and involve many others into our work of nation-building.  With friends, volunteers, Kapitbahayan and partners like you, and with God's grace, we face the enormous work ahead of us with unyielding faith and courage. We will end poverty for 5 million families by 2024. - Jose Luis Oquinena, Gawad Kalinga Exec. Dir.

Fifth Season Spa

I was invited by Ms Leah Dy, co-owner of Fifth Season Spa, to try their newly opened salon in Astoria Plaza, Ortigas.  Aside from providing spa solutions, Leah is also the brain (and beauty) behind Fruits In Bloom gift shop, which I am really fond of.   I finally personally met her during the Nestle Acti-V event last month where I was able to try their mobile spa.  I had a good experience during that event, that I couldn't miss this chance to get a full body massage from them.

Now A Family Of Three

I'm so happy to see photos of the royal family, Kate, William & their new baby.  Children are absolute joy & blessing.  Congratulations!

I wonder what they'll name the third man in line to the throne?

( UPDATE )  The royal baby is named as Prince George Alexander Louis.  He will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.  A very fitting name for the future king.

Whether, weather?

Despite of the drizzle, my mother-in-law and I went out for a walk this morning.  Whoohoo!  I felt very accomplished afterwards.  No more excuses this time.  I had my second thoughts earlier since my sister, my walking partner for the 2nd week now, slept in today.  Good thing my mother-in-law gamely agreed to walk with me.   When we saw the raindrops before we left her house,  it didn't bother her a bit and even offered to bring umbrellas.  Now that's what you call - determination.

"If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done."

Some Thoughts Today: Is it a sign?

I've been attending mommy events and meeting wonderful mommy bloggers lately that made me wonder if it is a sign already?  On top of it, people have been calling me Mommy Tin too!  Hahaha it's so nice to hear that I seldom correct them.  But honestly, the baby is still "in the making" so soon-to-be mom or mom-to-be would be more appropriate.  All I am certain now is that God is causing all things to work together for good, for those who love him and called for his good purpose.  I'm excited of the days ahead.  Keep us in your prayers, ok?

Have a blessed Sunday! :)

Friday Thoughts: When People Speak Into Your Life

Last weekend, my husband and I were able to chat with our mentors & godparents after a long long time (the couple at left most of the picture).  Sobrang busy kasi nila, as in they've been traveling for speaking & training engagements all around the globe They knew us back when we were still single and have positively spoken into our lives in more ways than one.  Over a cup of coffee and slice of kakanin, we tried to update each other on what's happening in ourlives.  Privately, I told my Ninang about work.. and that I need to loose weight for my career blablabla... She immediately cut me off, looked at me straight in the eye and said, "TIN YOU ARE ALREADY BEAUTIFUL.  When you do your diet it shouldn't be for other people or other reasons but for yourself. "  Hay, minsan kailangan lang ipaalala... Namiss kita tuloy Tita!

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts.  And we are never, ever the same.”

P.s.  So is this a sign to start on selfie ootd posts? Hihihi

WORD : Back to work

I'm not complaining.  But holiday in the middle of the week is really a struggle, don't you think?  So I'm giving myself a heads up,  “Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth.” Psalm 46:10 [VOICE]

I added a little twist in the slogan, hope you like it. :)

Kalma lang. All is well.
Pray on. Call Dad

Kyoot noh?!  Made these through Keep Calm And Carry On App.  You can change the words, logo and background design using the app.  A downside though, you can only generate a small file size.

Anyway,  have a great day!  Smize. :)
