Breathtaking Man-Made Lake in Villa Escudero

Lake Labasin

Ohh, ha! Pang-post card ang dating.  Landscape Photography.  More Fun in the Philippines!

I'll just be doing a quick post tonight on our family trip down south yesterday before I head home and prepare for another family outing tomorrow.  Long holiday here we come!

Bamboo rafting in Lake Labasin

Lake Labasin in the coconut plantation of Villa Escudero is a reservoir created by the first working hydroelectric plant in the country -  Labasin dam.   It is about 30-ft deep so no swimming or diving is allowed.

Ohh ha!  Bonga sa pagbalance yan.

Bamboo rafting in the man-made lake  is one of the amenities provided by the resort to its guests for free.  Guests are given life vests and are seated 2 at a time.  No time limit is given and you are left alone on the river to enjoy its tranquility.  The raft was surprisingly easy to maneuver but can be a bit of a challenge if you're not used to moving your arms.  Kaya todo arm power ito!

About 2 hrs drive from Manila & this is what you see.  Peace.

Large riverside cottages and apartment style units made from indigenous materials are beautifully protruding on one side of the lake while, different plants and flowers can be found on the other.  In addition to the commonly known owls and Maya, about 17 endemic bird species in the Philippines can be found in the resort such as the Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker and the Philippine Tailorbird.  Ohh, it's such a picturesque scene! I was just too scared to risk my camera on the raft.  Hay, mental picture na lang.  By the way, this is the same breathtaking river in Manila Peninsula's The Peninsula Moments campaign that inspired me to finally visit Villa Escudero for the first time.

I'll write more on our Villa Escudero trip later.

Take care going home!

  25. Nice! Very serene. I could go rafting all day if it's not that hot and humid. You're right, it's easy to maneuver water crafts that only need a paddle. Only problem with me is I don't know how to swim lol!
