My Top Picks: Best Android Apps This Holiday

I have to confess, this Holiday cannot be complete without these handy Android applications.  Times have changed, indeed! :)

1.  MMDA - If you are in Manila, one sure sign of the Christmas season is the heavy traffic! This traffic app is a sure lifesaver, I meant -  time saver! I wish they can expand their scope further (e.g. inside a city traffic report/ secondary streets), but I'm really thankful we have one like this now.

  • Navigate your way through Metro Manila traffic
  • View the traffic situation in System, Map or Line View
  • Includes EDSA, C5, SLEX, Roxas Blvd, Ortigas, Commonwealth, Marcos Highway, Katipunan, Espana, & Quezon Ave traffic reports
  • Share or Report traffic info feature via Twitter
  • View problem areas so you can avoid them
  • MMDA FAQs built-in for your guidance
    Includes MMDA Directory
Traffic Data downloaded from the MMDA-TV5 Metro Manila Traffic Navigator

2. Expense Manager - Yes, even the gift expenses need to be accounted for!  H & I downloaded this app to help us monitor our finances and assists us in doing our realistic budget for 2012.  Good money handling = good (peaceful) marriage, don't you think?

  • Tracking expenses and incomes by week, month and year as well as by categories
  • Multiple accounts
  • Schedule the payments and recurring payments
  • Take a picture of receipt
  • Payment alerts
  • Budget
  • Search and reports
  • Import and export account activities
  • Cloud (Android 2.2+) and SD Card backup
  • Customize expense categories, payer/payer, payment methods, etc
  • Charts
  • Widgets
Internet Access is used to retrieve currency exchange rate.
Hardware permission is used to take picture of receipt.

Can you believe we used to do this manually, as in we have expense notebook & do our budget Excel?!

3. Pinoy Henyo  - The famous word guessing game in the Philippines popularized by Eat, Bulaga! is now an app! Kids and adult alike can play this game.  A best seller in ALL the reunions and parties we went to so far!!!

  • Henyo Word - Guess 1 henyo word as fast as you can in two minutes
  • All You Can - Guess as many words in two minutes
  • How about 3 - Similar to all you can but in three minutes
You can also add words or design a game depending on your selected category.

What's nice about these handy apps, you can download all of them for FREE!  :)

I seem to be missing 2 more picks to complete my usual top 5, any more handy apps that would fit the qualifications for Best Android Apps This Holiday?
