The Secret of Peeling Tomato Skin

FOR THE LOVE OF SALSA

Cream cheese & jalapeno sealed my family's fondness to salsa.  We love it!  But the thought of peeling a kilo or two tomato skin is just dreadful.

After a batch of messy and painfully long peeling process, hindi ko matanggap ganon kahirap yun. Pano ba ginagawa ng mga professionals ito, diba?

What's the big secret in peeling tomato skin?

Slice an X.

Bigger X works better for me.

Ohh! Yun lang pala iyon. Just make sure tomatoes are washed thoroughly before cutting a shallow X on the bottom.  Drop the tomato into boiling water for about 30 seconds or when the skin begins to peel. If you intend to peel several tomatoes make sure you have enough water for all of the tomatoes.  To stop cooking, quickly remove form the heat, wash with cold running water or let it sit in an ice bath.  Once the tomato has been chilled, begin the glorious peeling process.

Ready for peeling in 1, 2, 3

So note to self - do some research before diving in.  Chances are things are simpler when you learn from other peoples' mistakes este experiences. ;-)
