Imagine Italy at Stella Fort Bonifacio

Wood Fired Pizza

Can I have the last slice please?  Stella's wood-fired pizza definitely captured how a traditional Italian pizza should taste like.

Stella is a wood fired bistro in Fort Bonifacio.  It is part of the Raintree Restaurants, that includes Momo, Chelsea Market and Cafe, Museum CafĂ©, and Mr. Jones.

The restaurant sort of pops out from its neighboring stores.  Its warm lights and homey decor is something similar to Chelsea Market and Cafe but a little bit down played.  It is also spacious inside, with tables that can easily accommodate any group size.  Shala lang din peg

Instead of the usual Italian Balsamic & Oil Vinaigrette dip, we were given complimentary roasted tomato and garlic dip with our bread.  The rich flavor of the dip and bread were such a treat!

I had Stella's Raspberry Echinacea Housemade "Real" Iced Tea (Php95) as recommended by our server.  It came out very sweet to my taste, I had to add water which diluted the "tea" flavor I'm looking for. The level of sweetness can be adjusted according to the menu, but I missed reading the fine italic print below the label.

I ordered The Stella Salad (Php295). It is made up of lettuce, crispy bacon, sundried tomato bits, candied rosemary pistachios, buttermilk chive-ranch dressing, and Malagos pecorino. Serving size is good for sharing.  We enjoyed eating it!  The salad is both salty and sweet at the same time.  Ohh, something I'll order again next time we drop by.

Now for the main deal, we ordered Butcher's Best Wood Fired Pizza (Php325).  It is topped with homemade garlic-fennel sausage, double-smoked bacon, pepperoni, red onions, fennel dust, and fresh Rizal dairy mozzarella.  Yes yes, bacon overload!

There's definitely something distinct with the taste and smell of a wood-fired pizza.   The crust is slightly burnt and crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside. Ohh, one bite is just bursting with flavor!  I took home the last slice and heated it the next day.  Boy, it's still so sarap!  The faint aroma of burnt wood in the crust was still there too.

I wouldn't mind going back to try out their other dishes but their level of customer service is a bit of a drawback. Though the servers are smiling and pleasant looking, they're not as attentive and welcoming - something we expect when we're paying good money.  I do hope they'll improve on it.

Anyway, any plans for the weekend?  The long holiday is just around the corner. :)
