Friday Thoughts: Right vs Good

Delighted to catch up with a dear Pastor friend last Thursday.  I haven't seen him for quite some time now.  Though he confessed he is beginning to feel his age, his good humor is still very much intact.  We talked for hours & hours, barely noticing the time, discussing about old friends, our ministries, the election and even his upcoming blog!  As usual, he left me with simple wise words before we parted,

"We are sometimes left to choose between what is good & what is right.  I hope you choose what is right.  For what is good doesn't always mean it is right, but at the same time, what is right doesn't always mean it is easy."

Make right choices.  Happy Weekend!

  1. Ah yes. Doing something right sometimes is hard.

  2. Nice thought you got there. We're all humans and we have choices in life, to do good, to do bad, to do what makes us happy. As long as we don't step on anyone, then I guess we're ok. :)

  3. i agree and i love this quote. Sometimes we are in the midst of choosing what is good over what is right and i think when we face this, we need to ask for God's enlightenment.

  4. This is indeed very true. I always get caught between doing what is right and what is good, but at the end of the day, God always guide me to do the right thing at the right time. :)

  5. I agree. I remember my conversation with my daughter yesterday about why we should be sharing to others about Jesus and in passing I mentioned that a person can be good but he needs Jesus to be right (with God). I hope my 8-year old daughter understood what I meant.

    God bless.

  7. It's nice to have a good friend who gives you something to chew on...those are very wise words and when it comes right down to that choice, I hope we would really always choose what is right...with God.

  8. Wise words indeed. If everybody applies that thought, then there will be peace in mankind.

  9. "Make right choices." Yes, I like that... :) It only becomes difficult when someone else has the veto power. LOL

  10. Food for thought. Sometimes we choose good over right so as not to cause unnecessary hurt. That does indeed make it a difficult choice.

  11. Sometimes, it's so confusing. Not all good things are right and yes it's always not easy to do what is right. I love the quote, thanks for sharing :)

  12. It is very tempting to choose the easy way, even when we know it isn't right. Thanks for the reminder. Dun tayo lagi sa tama.

  13. This is good food for the thought, Tin. For the sake of argument, when does doing good become wrong?

    1. top of mind example is when we have short-term mentality in decision making, we do what we think is good now, while risking the future with its consequences... then there's also, adhering to what society dictates or what it deems good even if it is not [morally or faith-wise] right. :)
