Life Journal:Situation of My Heart Today

"The seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest." - Luke 8:15

In Luke 8:5-15, Jesus told the Parable of the Sower and its meaning to his disciples.  In the parable, the Farmer freely planted seed in his field, which fell on 4 different types of soil: hard, rocky, thorny, and good soil. The seed represents the word of God planted in the soil, representing the hearts of men.  The one with a hard heart refused to receive the word because of disbelief. The rocky heart received the word but didn't nourish it.  The thorny heart received the word & nourished it, but it still carried other cares, desires & clutters in his life that eventually choked the life out of him.  The first 3 types did not bear any fruit unlike the good soil that yielded 100x as much as had been planted.

So how can we have a heart like the good soil?  Simple,
  1. Listen & accept the message of God in our heart through faith. (Heb 11:6)
  2. Nourish the word planted in us through constant fellowship, prayer, worship, and meditating the scriptures. (Phil 2:12)
  3. Surrender all!  Trade every cares, worries, doubts, fears, pain, anger, disappointments, desires, and even dreams at the foot of the Cross of Christ in exchange of the plans & purposes of God.  (Luke 14:27Gal 2:20)
  4. Persevere until we see the harvest come. (John 15:16)
Now the question remains, what's the situation of our heart today?  Are we ready to listen, receive, & wait patiently on the huge harvest?

Have blessed Sunday!
