Blissful Belly Vegetarian Corner

Dining With Friends Goes Vegan Wednesday

Vegan Wednesday is now becoming our weekly routine.  My friend and I look forward to it as our mid-week break from everyday meat diet or our "mid-week meat fast".  Among the vegan restaurants we've been to, Blissful Belly would probably top our list of favorite vegan restaurants in the Metro.

Three main reasons why we are hooked on Blissful Belly,  they offer affordable, healthy & delicious vegan dishes.  This vegan corner is more like an eatery/ canteen, it serves several cooked dishes which varies day-to-day & has a small dining area for its patrons.

Select your viand at the buffet table near the counter (turo-turo style)

A combo meal comprises of 2 generous servings of viands & a cup of brown rice.  It is good for sharing, about 1.5 serving size/ meal.  They offer fresh juice & shakes as refreshments (P50 each), a selection of vegan bread/ desert, and other vegan products you may want to try (e.g. veggie meat, soy milk, etc).

Our favorite viand is Tofu Yummy (Tofu & Eggplant in Creamy Peanut Sauce).  Kare-kare w/ vegan bagoong (blended tofu, black beans & pinch of salt); Tofu Bopis; and Vegan Afritada are also equally good.

Occasionally, they serve vegan meat barbeque & salmon. I haven't tried the barbeque, but the salmon patty in Mediterranean sauce is a must-try.  The salmon is made of wheat gluten, which tastes and shaped like salmon!  I think this patty is even wrapped with seaweed, it has that distinct taste but I'm not sure.

We don't mind going back to this vegan spot every week.  Kahit umuulan pa!

  2. Since I'm now a semi-vegetarian (I'm slowly cutting on the meat and pork's finally out of the way. Yes!) I'm trying to learn how to cook these kind of foods. If you do have recipes, please do share. Thanks! ;-)
