Nolita's Pizza by the Slice

Nolita (North of Italy) | New York Style Pizza Joint in Manila

By now, you've probably heard about this new pizza joint at Bonifacio High Street Central by Chef Cuit Kaufmann.  I brought my husband there a few weeks back for our date night.  He's a bit skeptic at first, but ever since I've started diligently documenting our food experiences, he gamely said yes.  After all, a pizza night is hard to say no to, right?

We found Nolita on the 2nd floor of the left wing building, facing the amphitheater fountain (directly above of SLICE).  I like the casual feel of the joint.  The lighting features, glass window, and ceiling treatment gave the place an industrial feel, while the wooden picnic tables & benches set the rustic & homey feel.  Quite a balance, alright.

We approached the counter to select our pizza, 16 variations in rotation to choose from - meaning, not all are available in a given time.  Nevertheless, the selection that night is still tough to narrow down for 2 people.  The slices are huge!  (All from an extra-large 20-inch pie)

Nolita White Cheese (Php160)

Nolita Buffalo Chicken (Php250)

It took a lot of convincing before my husband said yes to the white sauce based slice.  After tasting it, he later agreed I made a good call.  Foodie points for me! You see, though we both love pizza, my husband and I differ in our preferences on how we want it.  Plain & simple thin crust for me, while he likes the traditional tomato based thick crust pizza w/ loads of toppings.  Anyway, both pizza slices are yummy!  Crust tastes like Tuscani, slightly charred but chewy on the inside.

Nolita's style:  "Put that fork down, EAT WITH YOUR HANDS", and "SHARE A TABLE.  Make new friends."

We also ordered a basket of beer-battered onion rings with Sriracha dip.  We enjoyed the dip so much, we ordered another one (Php20)!

Nolita Beer Battered Onion (Php 160)

For our drinks, we had Gordon Biersh' Hefeweizen Beer (Php170) & Watermelonade Mojito (Php130), one of the house's specialty drinks.   You can also order a "virgin" version if you're not up for "spiked" drinks.

Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our no-fuss chillax pizza night.  Definitely, tagging Nolita as our new go-to place in Boni High Street Central.  The Stovetop Mac & Cheese, Nolita Burger, the Italian Cannoli desert are something to look forward to in our next visit.

  1. It's a bit on the expensive side, especially for just a slice of pizza but it looks yummy, especially the onion rings.
